|GIW Industries announced a new working partnership with Hagler Systems. The resulting solutions will be developed and released as "Engineered Solutions, powered by Hagler Systems and GIW Industries."
Hagler Systems, established by members of the same family who once owned GIW, develops custom-engineered designs for dredging and mining equipment and provides technical services for the dredging and mining industry. The company is especially known for its booster designs, cleanouts, and automated process control systems. Hagler Systems also represents GIW pumps among other dredge and slurry products. Thus, a solution that marries the expertise of the two companies is a natural fit.
GIW’s partnership with Hagler Systems combines Hagler Systems engineering expertise with GIW’s pumping skill to develop custom-engineered products to meet the needs of GIW customers. The initial project will be a pump house for the oil sands market.
Nikki Rebernak, GIW business development and product manager, explains the goal behind this new relationship. "Hagler Systems has already developed some outstanding products that are companions to GIW pumps: special spool pieces for the suction ends and special drive, skid, and maintenance equipment — things that make it easier to use or package the equipment. So the goal of our relationship is to address whatever our customers need — to provide new solutions to real-world applications."
Hagler Systems brings its engineering resources and existing knowledge of GIW equipment to the partnership. GIW brings market penetration, customer knowledge, and top-tier pumps. The resulting solutions might be something as large as the current pumphouse project, a process system with controls or something as simple as a pump on a movable metal skid.
"No one has focused on providing this type of engineered product before," says Rebernak. "Until now, solutions would be cobbled together. Accessories around the pumps were not standard and were often developed by people who didn’t understand the pumps. The equipment either inhibited how the pump works or was just ‘good enough’."
Hagler Systems, of course, understands GIW systems and pumps. The companies will begin with custom-engineered products and solutions but plan to eventually develop some standardized catalog items.
The motto of the new relationship, says Rebernak, is simple: "We’re Engineers — Tell us what you need."
