E2 Systems LLC has received the prestigious 2015 NOVA Award from the Construction Innovation Forum (CIF), for its Portable Modular Conveyor-Material Placer (PMC).

Michael and Carl Evangelista, owners of E2 Systems in Farmington Hills, Michigan, developed the Portable Modular Conveyor-Material Placer to provide a fast, efficient and cost-effective method of placing concrete before a slip-form paving machine.

The PMC uses a front end loader’s hydraulics to operate a conveyor belt system. The PMC moves flowable materials including concrete, asphalt, aggregate, sand and topsoil.

The 10,000-pound unit is lightweight and at just 8.5 feet wide and 21 feet long, its small size accommodates tight spaces. The PMC can place over 300 cubic yards of material per hour.

“We are very excited and honored to have the privileged recognition of the CIF NOVA Award. It further demonstrates our customers’ satisfaction of our unique method of placing a variety of materials to the construction work area,” said Michael Evangelista.

The PMC has been used on Michigan projects including the Carpenter Road reconstruction in Ann Arbor, the I-75 reconstruction near Saginaw and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport North Terminal, as well as a Chicago Transit Authority rail reconstruction on the Dan Ryan Freeway. The PMC has been sold to contractors around the country.

“The NOVA Awards honor top innovations in construction from around the world,” said Dr. Rasha Stino, vice chair of CIF and chair of the NOVA Awards. “Our NOVA winners make significant contributions to safety, efficiency, quality and environmental stewardship. NOVA Awards are hard-won, and the judging process is rigorous. A team of investigators, composed of leading engineers and architects, researches the nominated innovations. An independent panel of expert jurors reviews the nominations and investigators’ reports, meeting twice to select finalists and winners. We feel privileged to recognize the Portable Modular Conveyor-Material Placer and the exceptional team at E2 Systems LLC who developed this highly innovative method of light pole construction.”

About the CIF NOVA Awards

Formed in 1987, the Construction Innovation Forum (CIF) is an international, non-profit organization that encourages and recognizes construction innovations.

A jury of internationally recognized experts selects NOVA winners following a comprehensive investigation process. To date, 796 nominations for the NOVA Award have been received from more than 20 countries. Worldwide, 111 innovations from more than 10 countries have received the coveted award.

The 2015 winners were announced in November at the Annual Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) Awards of Excellence Gala in Houston, Texas.  Based in Cincinnati, CURT represents more than 100 of the nation’s top construction purchasers, the majority of which are Fortune 500 companies.

The Construction Innovation Forum has issued its annual call for NOVA Award nominations. Nomination forms may be downloaded from www.cif.org and must be sent to CIF by March 31, 2016. Visit www.cif.org for more information.
