Twin Spring Coupling has released the data on their new drive train coupling technology’s first commercial product.
The TSC8300 is warrantied to 300 ft lbs of torque. This first product will allow customers with smaller torque requirements that need the torque with increased flexibility to get both in one product.
“The patented technology will allow designers who use existing coupling technology like cardan, CV and universal joints to look at their designs in a new light. Increased flexibility with the same torque curves allows the designer/engineer to achieve increased reliability with little to no modification,” says Darren Finch CEO of Twin Spring Coupling.
“The constant maintenance of the internals of a universal joint isn’t a factor with our coupling as there is no internal components. No needle bearings to maintain, no bearings to wear out. Their constant failure due to being used in dirt, dust, mud and water which wear out the bearings is a thing of the past, since those parts are not in our coupling.”
Applications include Axle, PTO, drive shaft, steering, and conveyor belts, basically anywhere a uni and bearings are used.
The simple design allows the coupling to be scaled up or down to suit the application and torque requirements, applications like drive shafts, steering, axles, belts, pumps etc.
The flexibility of the springs allows for more degree of movement without damaging drive shaft or components, at the same time being able to absorb shock and energy, making the coupling more efficient.
